Yingze Zhang, PhD
Yingze
Zhang, PhD, is a research associate professor at the University of Pittsburgh
School of Medicine. Dr. Zhang received her doctoral degree from the
University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 1997. She then completed
her post-doctoral training in Human Genetics and Rheumatology &
Cellular Immunology at the Allegheny University of Health Systems and
University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, respectively. During 1999-2002,
Dr. Zhang was a faculty member at the Center for Craniofacial and Dental
Genetics of the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine.
During her doctoral and post-doctoral training, Dr. Zhang conducted
research on the genetics and molecular basis of several genetic disorders
and coauthored 28 peer-reviewed publications. The current research of
Dr. Zhang is focused on the molecular and genetic basis of pulmonary
fibrosis. She has established multiple collaborations with investigators
from the United States, Japan, and Mexico to recruit patients with pulmonary
diseases for her genetic studies. Her immediate goal is to systematically
analyze candidate genes for their association with pulmonary fibrosis.
Any genes with significant associations in this initial genetic analysis
will be further verified for their involvement in the pathogenesis of
pulmonary fibrosis using molecular methodology.
