Luis A. Ortiz, MD

Luis A. Ortiz, MDLuis A. Ortiz, MD is an associate professor and director of the Division of Occupational and Environmental Medicine at the Department of Occupational and Environmental Health at the School of Public Health at the University of Pittsburgh. He also has a secondary appointment in the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Ortiz earned his medical degree from the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana in Medellín, Columbia and completed his residency at Tulane University Medical Center. He completed his fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at the University of Texas’ Health Science Center and MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.

Dr. Ortiz is a member of several professional organizations including the American Thoracic Society and the European Respiratory Society, and he is a fellow in the American College of Chest Physicians. He has authored more than 50 journal articles, abstracts and book chapters, and has made more than 30 presentations nationally and internationally. Dr. Ortiz has a long-standing interest in research and management of idiopathic as well as secondary pulmonary fibrosis.
