Kathleen Oare Lindell, PhD, RN
Kathleen Oare Lindell, PhD, RN, is a clinical nurse specialist and nursing manager for the Dorothy P. and Richard P. Simmons Center for Interstitial Lung Disease at the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, PA. Dr. Lindell is a graduate of the St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing and received her bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in nursing from the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing. Her nursing focus has been on clinical care, and she was a clinical nurse specialist at the PENN Lung Center at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center for 10 years prior to coming to the Simmons Center. She has participated in clinical and research projects about asthma, smoking cessation, and IPF. In addition she has several publications, including manuscripts, book chapters, and Web articles on a number of lung-related topics and has presented at several international meetings. Dr. Lindell’s research involves interventions to improve quality of life for patients with lung fibrosis and their family members, and she leads the Simmons Center IPF patient support group. Currently she is on the Strategic Advisory Board for the Coalition for Pulmonary Fibrosis and on the Board of Directors for the American Thoracic Society, serving as the Chair of the Nursing Assembly.
